Chamber of Engineers of Montenegro (CEM) was established by the Law on the Construction of Structures that came into force on December 10th 2000, while the Founding Assembly of the Chamber was held ten months later, on October 31st , 2001. It was founded with the aim to protect public interest and third parties, and to guarantee expertise of its engineers and companies in performing certain tasks in the development of planning and technical documentation and construction of facilities as well.
ECM consists of professional chambers and gathers engineers of different profiles: professional chamber of architects, professional chamber of electrical engineers, professional chamber of mechanical engineers and the chamber of other engineering professions.
The role of the Chamber of Engineers of Montenegro changed significantly over the past twenty years, and the changes were mainly related to the transferred public authority and entrusted tasks by the relevant Ministry. The position of the Chamber of Engineers makes specific - role reflected in the implementation of public authority, on the one hand, and advocacy of the interests of its members and the protection and improvement of the profession, on the other hand. The relationship between these two roles was not always easy to reconcile and that is what makes the chamber management sensitive. The previous presidents of the ECM were always unique in the attitude that the professional interests are common top priority.
During the years, ECM has achieved significant results on the domestic and international level, recognized and awarded engineering achievements of its members, recognized talents of future engineers and rewarded them with the scholarships. Chamber supported numerous publications, designed its own publishing production and continued to work on education and vocational improvement of members.
Chamber organizes great number of scientific and professional seminars, round tables, workshops, events such as Days of electrical engineers, and regularly supports membership in its professional aspirations towards lifelong education.
Jubilee - Twenty years of existence and work, Chamber welcomed significantly empowered because it has become a roof engineering organization again. With reorganization on all levels, it has achieved more efficiency in functioning, while the amendments to the Law on Spatial Development and Construction of Structures, widened its scope of action.
The interest of membership increases on a daily basis, while the Register of members counts 2700 engineers from Montenegro and 341 foreign engineers.
