Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Montenegro, within the Erasmus+ project Curricula innovation in climate-smart urban development based on green and energy efficiency with the non-academic sector – SmartWB, organises a lecture and a panel discussion "TOWARDS CLIMATE-RESISTANT CITIES: ROLE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF BLUE-GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE".
Prof. Dr. Florian Kretschmer from BOKU University of Natural Resources and Applied Environmental Sciences (Vienna, Austria) will give a short lecture on stormwater management. The presentation will include a brief overview of relevant EU directives related to blue-green infrastructure, examples of its implementation, advantages and challenges of different approaches, and insight into current research in this area.
As part of the panel discussion, the possibilities of implementing blue-green infrastructure in Montenegro will be analysed, focusing on identifying challenges in its implementation and maintenance. It is also the topic of PhD student Olga Ćalasan's research, which will present preliminary results obtained through interviews with representatives of relevant institutions and organisations to identify key regulatory, institutional, financial and technical barriers to implementing blue-green solutions.
